Deborah Puette | writer-director-producer

A queer actor turned writer-director, Deborah Puette grew up in an Irish-Catholic family of hunters who taught her to use a shotgun when she was eight. She left her small town to live around the globe, from Paris, France, to Juneau, Alaska, and is now based in Los Angeles where she continues to work across theater, film, and television. She credits two decades working as an actor alongside some of the best directors in theater, film, and television with her early success as an emerging writer and filmmaker.

Her first feature script, Cash for Gold, was championed by The Black List’s Franklin Leonard. That attention led to a production deal with Deborah also co-directing and playing the lead role. The film won the Audience Award at the 16th annual Burbank International Film Festival and is available on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and other VOD platforms.

Her newest short film, Such A Pretty Girl, has played in competition in over thirty festivals around the world and has won multiple Best Narrative Short awards including at the 26th annual Port Townsend Film Festival. It serves as proof-of-concept for her sophomore feature, now in development.

Deborah’s numerous television pilots have been recognized by the GLAAD x Black List, Warner Bros. Writers Workshop, the NBC TV Writers Fellowship, The Writer’s Lab, and more.

She’s repped for writing and directing by Austin Aronson at Canopy Media Partners.
